Testimonials
"Skin Type Solutions really helped me formulate a positive cleaning regimen and the results have been wonderful. I have had less problems with my extremely sensitive skin than ever before. I highly recommend!" - Cherisse, Skin Type Solutions Client
"In my teens and twenties I never paid much attention to my skin, partly because I didn't have any major problems and partly because I wasn't very interested in beauty, fashion magazines etc.
But, at 34 I started looking at my skin more closely, and, much to my dismay, I realized that I was beginning to show the signs of ageing; for the first time I noticed that I had crowsfeet, smile lines and age spots.
I decided I probably should start taking a little better care of my skin, but I didn't really know "what" I should be doing. Since it's nearly impossible to get a dermatologist to spend any serious time with you, I decided to try Skin Type Solutions instead and I think it was a good choice." - Lisa, Skin Type Solutions Client
What Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a skin resurfacing treatment that works by gently abrading the top layer of the skin with the help of a diamond tipped wand, leaving a new, fresh layer underneath. It is a non-invasive, non-surgical cosmetic procedure.
Microdermabrasion offers benefits to anyone who wants to improve specific skin conditions and rejuvenate the overall health and appearance of their skin.
* Rejuvenates sun damaged skin - face, neck, shoulders
* Reduce age spots
* Minimize blotchy skin coloring
* Reduce acne and superficial scars from past injury
* Extract blackheads and whiteheads
* Oily Skin
* Improve overall skin health
Is Microdermabrasion Safe?
Microdermabrasion has virtually no risks and no side effects because it is one of the least invasive skin resurfacing procedures. Contraindications, however, do exist. Patients on Accutane for 6 months previously, pregnant and nursing women, people suffering from active herpes lesions, malignant tumors, keratosis, active rosacea or weeping acne should not have microdermabrasion.
How Much Does Microdermabrasion Cost?
Prices range between $75 and $200 for one treatment.
How Effective Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is effective on diminishing and even getting rid of fine lines, enlarged pores, blackheads, age spots, hyperpigmentation (uneven skin tone), scars, stretch marks and dull skin. Women who've tried it (ourselves included) say a full microdermabrasion treatment makes the skin smoother and better. Actual results, however, depend on prior medical conditions, your skin's ability to recover and on who performed the procedure. It is not effective on severe skin imperfections because microdermabrasion cannot reach deeper layers of skin.

Is Microdermabrasion Good For Acne?
According to some dermatological studies, microdermabrasion is effective on mild acne. Microdermabrasion can also get rid of superficial acne scars and red marks.
How Can Microdermabrasion Treatment Help?
Based on our personal experience, as well as that of hundreds of other people, microdermabrasion really works because:
* It is the least invasive dermatological procedure (compared to dermabrasion and laser resurfacing).
* It is more affordable than cosmetic surgery.
* Microdermabrasion is painless.
* It has the fewest side effects and it is effective on all skin types and colors.
* Microdermabrasion does not need anaesthetics.
* It helps your skin look younger, healthy, glowing and for some people, close to perfect.
